- The Red Eyes I was talking about!!!
- Dinner!
- Happy Holidays!!
Today, when speaking with Sly on the phone I said to him: “I’m going to write on our blog today.” He said to me: “What are you going to write about?” I said: “I don’t know yet” So he suggested that I write about his first Christmas with my family. So, here’s a sneak peak into a more intimate and casual part of our world!
I think I’d like to call this event “Christmas in Chinatown” Now the only reason that I say this is because Sly was literally the only non-asian (yes the token white guy) at my family Christmas! This was a really fun dinner because this one was really more for our friends. My brother invited three of his friends to join us, and they were all Chinese, and then there was Sly. The only blond hair blue eyed person at the table. Not to mention the only person at the table with eyes big enough that when we took a picture he actually had red eyes in the picture!! I had no idea that the bigger a person’s eyes, the more likely you are to have red eyes! But I guess that would make sense since it’s a bigger reflective surface. Now what amazed me the most was that Sly not only held his own (because I was 45 minutes late to my own dinner due to work) but he also knows to to work the chopsticks better than I! And now all of you reading this know that I cross my chopsticks, and when I go to dim sum I stab the food with one of the chop sticks to make it look like I know how to use them correctly!
For dinner we had a traditional meal called steam boat. This is where you cook your food in a huge pot of soup that’s on the table, it’s really fun, and it’s definitely a social thing! And isn’t it great that it is such a social thing, because isn’t this what Christmas is about? Being able to connect with each other, spend time and remember why we gather!
It’s pretty cool that we got to hang out in this manner! It’s almost like an alternative form of team building! And you know the stronger the team, the better it is for everyone that we are so blessed and honored to work on!
Not to mention, it makes all the time we spend together more enjoyable.
How did you celebrate the holiday season! Let us know, we’d love to read all about it!!
