Sly’s first Christmas at Ai-Linn’s Place
December 28, 2009- The Red Eyes I was talking about!!!
- Dinner!
- Happy Holidays!!
Today, when speaking with Sly on the phone I said to him: “I’m going to write on our blog today.” He said to me: “What are you going to write about?” I said: “I don’t know yet” So he suggested that I write about his first Christmas with my family. So, here’s a sneak peak into a more intimate and casual part of our world!
I think I’d like to call this event “Christmas in Chinatown” Now the only reason that I say this is because Sly was literally the only non-asian (yes the token white guy) at my family Christmas! This was a really fun dinner because this one was really more for our friends. My brother invited three of his friends to join us, and they were all Chinese, and then there was Sly. The only blond hair blue eyed person at the table. Not to mention the only person at the table with eyes big enough that when we took a picture he actually had red eyes in the picture!! I had no idea that the bigger a person’s eyes, the more likely you are to have red eyes! But I guess that would make sense since it’s a bigger reflective surface. Now what amazed me the most was that Sly not only held his own (because I was 45 minutes late to my own dinner due to work) but he also knows to to work the chopsticks better than I! And now all of you reading this know that I cross my chopsticks, and when I go to dim sum I stab the food with one of the chop sticks to make it look like I know how to use them correctly!
For dinner we had a traditional meal called steam boat. This is where you cook your food in a huge pot of soup that’s on the table, it’s really fun, and it’s definitely a social thing! And isn’t it great that it is such a social thing, because isn’t this what Christmas is about? Being able to connect with each other, spend time and remember why we gather!
It’s pretty cool that we got to hang out in this manner! It’s almost like an alternative form of team building! And you know the stronger the team, the better it is for everyone that we are so blessed and honored to work on!
Not to mention, it makes all the time we spend together more enjoyable.
How did you celebrate the holiday season! Let us know, we’d love to read all about it!!
Winter Solstice Blessings!
December 22, 2009Greetings to all!
Well, we have just come out of the darkest night of the year known as Yule or Winter Solstice. We have come out a a time of deep inner reflection, and are now stepping into a time of light and illumination. It is a time to take our contemplation, our self reflection and put what we have realized into action!
Once again, we are welcoming the sun back to earth, and starting today the days will begin to grow longer as the sun brings its light and warm rays onto this earth! This is a great time for gathering, love, peace, goodwill, and most importantly, forgiveness. Take this time to re-connect with those whom you have lost touch, and to let the people in your life know just how much they mean to you. Reach out to those around you and thank them for being a part of your life, and most importantly take some time to thank yourself for being the wonderful and amazing person that you are! Thank yourself for the love, joy, kindness, abundance that you not only bring to your life, but to everyone around you!
So, from our hearts to yours, we thank each and everyone of you for bringing much joy to our lives! For helping to make our dream of pur Urban Reiki a reality!
Yuletide blessings, peace and goodwill to all!

pur Urban Reiki in the Community
December 14, 2009On Saturday December 12th, pur Urban Reiki held it’s first community event for the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto.
It was amazing to see how a little could, and would go such a long way! Sometimes, we may feel that in order to make a difference we need to do something elaborate, something grand, but sometimes it’s quite the opposite. It was the little gesture that really went a long way this time!
We loved watching so many of you come out to donate food to those who needed it, and because of you there will be a few more people who will be able to have a meal this holiday season. It truly warmed our hearts to have been part of this event!
To make this a little more fun, we also offered $30 half hour Jikiden Reiki sessions with a food donation. This event ended up being an experiential event for those who had never tried Jkiden Reiki and for those who couldn’t make it you, well most of you donated regardless… so thank you!!
So, from our hearts to yours… THANK YOU for helping to make this even such a huge success!!!
Happy Holidays!
Ai-Linn and Sly
